Hindu rites of passage dictate that a service (pooja) is held over an open casket at the deceased's home before the cremation service.
The following list of items necessary for the pooja are provided by Indian Funeral Service as part of the funeral service.

- Chokha (rice)
- Tal (Sesame seeds)
- Jav (Barley)
- Sandle Wood Garland
- Sandle Wood
- Ganga Jal
- Havan Samagri
- Gold, Silver and Pearls
- Pavirtri Vite (Ring)
- Tulsi Mala
- White Cloth 2.5 Metres
These items are also required but are not provided by Indian Funeral Service:
- Diwo
- Aggarbati (incence sticks)
- Laddo x2 (pind)
- Tulsi Pan
- 4 packets of butter
- 4 Coconuts
- Loose Flower Petals
These items will be delivered when we come to visit you at home before the funeral. All these items should be placed in small bowls at least one day before the funeral. These items should be checked by the Priest before the funeral cortege arrives. |
